Fengate Cares for Kuffu! Heard of Jason Smith? Maybe not but he is a local superhero, or at least we think so! He approached us this year, looking for a sponsor that would help him with his charitable work.
Jason works with Care for Kuffu, a charity based in the UK. Care For Kuffu was established in 2010 by the Harvest Centre, in Brandon, our very own small town. The Harvest Centre opened an international Bible school. This was where a student, Samual Elijah Kibirige inspired other members of the centre to start their charitable work after hearing stories of his life in Kuffu.
Care for Kuffu and Jason are working with the GOSHEM, a local Ugandan charity. This is to help establish self-sustaining villages in the most deprived areas of Uganda.
It’s through the work that Care for KUFFU, GOSHEM and Jason have done, that has helped these rural communities become “thriving micro economies that would not be dependent on aid or external assistance”.
Fengate Fasteners were extremely excited about this cause and of course didn’t hesitate in providing Jason with a range of tools! Along with many other bits that would help him with his mission. Jason went out to Uganda this year stocked with all the tools he needed to help with various building projects. Fengate Fasteners are so proud to be able to be a part of a project like this and the amazing photos that we received of his progress has bought so much warmth to our branch.
Care For Kuffu has bought seventeen acres of land for the Kuffu, which they are now able to farm and produce food of their own. Such as crops of Coffee and Maise, as well as livestock.
Jason has been able to build schools that can hold over 230 children, a church kitchen block, a bio toilet, a Visitors Centre block and the most recent build, a medical hospital block. Care for Kuffu and Jason have expressed how important the support from Fengate Fasteners and other sponsors has been in making these projects possible.
With no administration fee. Every single penny that Care for Kuffu raise goes straight back into projects for the Kuffu people.
